So on the night that Primal Scream performed their seminal album Screamadelica for the first time in full at London’s Olympia, Andrew Weatherall, producer of that record told me about the remix that got him on board with the band.

Frontman Bobby Gillespie says the tour of this record is not a self indulgent revival thing, “It’s not really reliving the old days,” he claimed. “A lot of the songs we recorded in the studio and never played them live. ‘I’m Comin’ Down’, ‘Shine Like Stars’ and ‘Inner Flight’, those are like new songs. It’s not nostalgic at all, it sounds fresh.”

With Yoko Ono, Erol Alkan , The Orb and Primal Scream producer, Andrew Weatherall just a few of the recent hosts of the BBC 6 Mix, Jo stepped into some pretty hefty shoes at the helm of the show this month to reveal the art behind remixing.

In a one-off Remix special, Jo revelled in dragging you deep into her re-jiggled, re-wiggled little world as she caught up with some of the masters of art. Joined by the likes of LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, Soulwax’s Stefan Dewaele, Tiga, Fatboy Slim, Armand Van Helden, Carl Cox, Leftfield’s Neil Barnes and Friendly Fires Jo got to the bottom of exactly how it’s done.

The show aired December 12 @ 8pm on BBC 6 Music.

04 OCTOBER – KOMCAST 02 LAUNCHED

The second installment of the Komedia Komcast is live.
Komcast 02 by Komcast

If you were at the Popstars Party last month and confessed to your top Guilty Pleasures track, then the winning song is in there along with some of the ‘star’ interviews with Lady Gaga who deserves a special mention for telling all about her Love Glue Gun and Daft Punk (pictured wearing their home made helmets).

Komedia resident ‘hostess with the mostess’ Zoe Lyons gives us a glimpse of the inspired ‘Glastonbury moment’ that led to her show idea for this months Brighton Comedy Festival show at the Corn Exchange and we hear from Willy Mason about his new material that he unleashed on the night.

In a Komcast exclusive we also have permission from Willy’s team to include a special live track from the Komedia gig.

Guaranteed to send tingles down your spine….if you missed out this is your chance to catch all the action.

…and for once I am not talking about a tumble I took at the weekend.

Today I was sent a link to a brand spanking new track from a foursome called Fujiya & Miyagi. Never heard of them? Neither had I, but their superb (4th) new album Ventriloquizing, caught me by surprise and for today you can listen to a nice sample of the new LP right here
